Welcome!!

Guests should also be aware that you can visit this site up to 35 times, but after that, you will be automatically directed to the registration page. This is not done to chase you away, but to encourage you to sign up. I see tons of lurkers perusing the public portions of the site... well, there's tons more of the site for you to see, as a registered member.

Likewise, after registering, until you've posted more than 15 times, you'll see a warning message about being under the minimum posting limit. This is to encourage new folks to jump in and participate in the threads. Again, it's not to chase anyone off; the point is to draw you in.

Hi friends. I did something tonight I don't get to do too often: I drove into the city to see a film premiere...it was for Machete, and believe me, it was worth the drive. As my brother, nephew and I sat there in the mostly-empty theatre, we laughed ourselves silly. Seriously though, if you haven't seen the Machete trailer that appeared before the beginning of the movie Planet Terror, watch it fi...

Well if the 15 year deal sticks, you buy a jersey now and you'll wear it for a long, long, long time. Probably about as long as we've been waiting for an answer. Deadline is 3 pm, deadline is 5 pm, deadline is 7 pm. UGHHH.... As I had NHL.com up looking for an answer, they changed the headline to "Deadline 8 pm." I think their webmaster fell asleep because at 10:45 it still said, "Deadline 10 p...

The NHLs Top Goal Scorers Since the Lockout(Year by Year) In doing some research for my article evaluating Alex Semin and whether the Capitals should sign him to an extension or not, I have come across a plethora of statistics regarding goal scoring since the lockout. In order to sift through all the information, I ended up creating a bunch of charts. The following set of 5 charts...

Listen Here... Mixed reports, but it appears as though the NHL has accepted the Kovalchuk Contract...staying with it......

Reports around the net indicating it is done... Ill be waiting for an official announcement at 5PM EST

Note: Mike Comrie has signed in Pitt.... More and more it appears as though Kovalchuk may not get done today. The NHL sees the Kovalchuk contract as an opportunity to fix the situation. As frustrating as this has become, and it has been frustrating, it could actually work out for the better. The NHL may be willing to allow this contract if they are assured of some mechanism for the over 40...

Pens Sign Comrie Penguins general manager Ray Shero found another bargain out there in free agent land and signed forward Mike Comrie to a one-year, $500,000 deal. The 29-year-old Comrie brings a factor of versatility to Pittsburgh, playing both center and wing during his nine NHL seasons. He has proved in the past to have a scoring touch, putting up 60 points twice in his career. Comrie...

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Mike Comrie to a $500,000, one-year contract, giving them a proven scorer who might be capable of playing on one of their top three lines. The Penguins, looking for affordable scoring...

I am happy about this one... The Penguins have signed former Oiler Mike Comrie to a 1 year/$500k deal, which is an absolute steal. Hope they get a cup for you, Mikey. You kinda got a raw deal in Edmonton (although there really wasn't much roster room to add you, but you were worthy of a re-sign) so it's good to see a decent ending.

Last fall, when Colin Wilson arrived in Nashville for Rookie Camp, he had a lot of weight on his shoulders. He was a Top 10 selection at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, had just won a National Championship with Boston University, was a Top 3 finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award given to the country's best college hockey player, and represented Team USA at the 2009 World Championships without any...

Dale Tallon has made it very clear that everyone in the organization will have the chance to start for this team as the true rebuilding effort has begun. Practically no job is safe outside of Vokoun, Booth, Weiss, and Kulikov, although the defense is all but set. Obviously some forwards are in but not part of the youth movement with the likes of Bernier, Higgins, Dvorak, etc. Up for discussio...

Trying to pick an introductory paragraph for this blog was difficult. Simply put, there are only a handful of iconic moments in hockey history that are remembered on completely opposite ends of the spectrum by fans, and no play has been more controversial than Daniel Alfredsson's game winner in the 2001-2002 playoff edition of the Battle of Ontario. After a sustained attack in the Toronto zone...

I am sorry if this blog seems distracted. I received Season 3 of Big Love from Amazon.ca today, so I am attempting to multi-task while writing this. I've watched Season 3 before on HBO when it was "original"...the final episode of the third season might be the best episode of any show ever made. I highly recommend watching. Season 3 doesn't come without its ridiculous moments: It's not bad eno...

You could debate that Boston won't make it, maybe Montreal doesn't back in again. Maybe the Flyers don't make it on the last shot of the season and the Rangers do? Do the Ducks squeak in ahead of Nashville? Does Detroit shockingly eliminate Chicago on the last day of the season? Come on, make the call, then come back to this blog in April so you have proof. In the East, I'm gonna shock ev...

... Till Friday up to 5PM EST Roger was also quoted as saying "Nothing will be said, or blogged, till there is a decision one way or the other. And we hope it is in our favor." This is exactly how I feel right now. I just want the puck to drop. Devils Devils and NHL fans want resolution to the biggest UFA this off season, and possibly the biggest and most successful off seasoning Devils h...

After what felt like years of no news out of the Avalanche camp, the Avalanche have announced that they have re-signed forward Chris Stewart to a two-year $5.75 million dollar deal. Every time doubt starts to creep in about the Avs' management and if they are doing their job and how well they are doing it, they put out news that shows their business moxie and sense of player worth. When Stew...

For those who have accounts on Facebook, I've created a "group" called (wait for it!)  "PTPITN".   I encourage everyone here who has an account on Facebook to join that group, so that everyone else from here who signs up there will know where to look for folks they can immediately add to their Friends list.

When sending an "Add me to your Friends" request, I suggest you identify yourself by your PTPITN login name.  Otherwise, folks might think "who's this schmuck?"  In many cases, they probably still will have that thought, but at least they'll know why the schmuck is pestering them...
